Oh! The Places I've Been...

As I was rocking Emily to sleep this evening, I was dreaming of the family vacation we are planning for September. We are taking the kids to Charleston, SC and Hilton Head Island to the BEACH... places both Vance and I have always wanted to visit! We are planning the vacation to coincide with a SLAH Director Retreat in Charlotte. Were it not for that retreat in Charlotte, we probably would never have actually followed through with making these vacation plans to South Carolina!

As I dreamed about our upcoming vacation, I started to think about all the places I've been and the things I've done in my short 3 1/2 years with SLAH. I've been to countries, hotels, and states I never would have been to were it not for my business. I've para sailed, snorkeled, sailed, enjoyed the mountain air, enjoyed lots of spa treatments, experienced Nascar racing, been injured on a Segway, and dined like a celebrity... all thanks to this so-called "job"!

When I signed up as a SLAH consultant, I had ONE goal...

to make $500 a month.

I never, in my wildest imagination, could've imagined all that SLAH has become to me and my family. I have met great friends, been inspired, shared successes, felt pride and accomplishment, been challenged, contributed financially, been recognized for my success, and enjoyed just about every minute of it all!

I tell you this because I want to inspire you to dream and think BIG...

All of this and more is available to each and every one of you...

You just have to reach for it!

I am privileged to share this amazing opportunity called "Southern Living at Home" with each of you and I hope to have an opportunity to travel and make memories with each of you in the future!

Oh! The Places I've Been...
(Try not to notice how much I've aged in 3 years!)

July 2006
Puerto Rico
My 1st General Incentive

Earning this trip was a complete surprise to me... and Vance! I didn't know a SINGLE person on this trip, but quickly realized that FREE trips are worth it!

August 2006
Nashville, Tennessee
My first Convention

I still didn't know a single person in the company and so I convinced my mom to sign up as a consultant so that she could go to Convention with me. I was curious to see what it was all about, but a little hesitant about all of the "rah rah" stuff.

It was at this convention that I first got inspired to reach for bigger and better things with SLAH! I met Kimberly Buck (my Senior Director) and she saved me and my mom seats in the front rows on the 2nd day of convention. We felt like royalty! Speaking of royalty... I also got to dine with Gail Pittman!

I felt a sense of accomplishment as I earned my 1st sales award and walked across the stage. I left convention and made a goal of becoming a Director and earning the Director's Retreat to the Bahamas!

January 2007

The Bahamas
My first Director's Retreat

I did it! I made my goal and promoted to a Director the Fall following my 1st convention. I still didn't know very many people or know all the "ins and outs" about the company and these trips. I was fortunate to room with a lovely lady who was so sweet and took me under her wing... Nancy Moore.

I was completely and totally shocked to realize that I was in the Top 20 Point Earners on that trip! I went to a "Top 20" cocktail reception and met our founder, Dianne Mooney.

It was on this trip that I really started to meet people and started to develop friendships that still remain today. The trip ended with a pirate-themed party on the beach with fireworks as the grand finale. And I'll never forget that "Heavenly Bed"... it was, in fact, heavenly!

February 2007
Somewhere in the Georgia Mountains
Success Circle Director's Retreat

Wow! This was such a fun experience! We stayed in charming cabins in the mountains of Georgia. It was chilly and we enjoyed amazing training by the fire! It was on this trip that I started to see the full potential of my SLAH business and started to feel "at home" in the Success Circle of consultants.

June 2007
Indianapolis, Indiana
My 2nd Convention

I was so excited to have 3 of my own team members join me at convention this year! The product showcase was amazing and I got to walk across the stage several times. My biggest accomplishment in my SLAH career occurred this year as I was honored for being #27 in retail sales that year!

And... I was pregnant with Emily!

July 2007
Cancun, Mexico
My 2nd General Incentive

This was such a special trip because we were able to take Noah with us! I was pregnant with Emily and so this was our last trip as a "family of three"! Noah enjoyed every single second of it and we made so many special memories... memories that I'll never forget!

August 2007
Birmingham, Alabama
Corporate Headquarters

I was so honored to be asked to be a part of a group of 10 women who participated in a product focus group. It was the absolute BEST experience in my SLAH career thus far! I spent 2 full days in the corporate offices looking at and evaluating products that would potentially be a part of the future SLAH product line. Some of the products I saw 2 years ago are finally showing up in the catalog!

Beyond seeing the products, I was also able to spend time getting to know the corporate staff and touring the corporate headquarters. I got to experience first hand how both Southern Progress and Southern Living at Home work from the inside out. I cannot say enough about this experience... it was, for me, a once in a lifetime experience!

February 2008
Gatlinberg, Tennessee
Success Circle Director's Retreat

This was another amazing scenic backdrop for some phenomenal training! I made my way to Gatlinberg, breast pump in tow, when Emily was just 6 weeks old! It was well worth it because, once again, new friendships were made and old ones grew stronger. And we had the privilege of having Dianne Mooney as a guest speaker!

June 2008
Nashville, Tennessee
My 3rd Convention

My 3rd convention experience was just as much fun as my previous two experiences! We had quite the adventure getting to our destination.... when our flight from Dallas was cancelled, a few of us caught a flight to another city, rented a car, and drove the rest of the way to Nashville! And the highlight of this convention was seeing one of my own team members on the stage... chosen as a consultant who represented a mom who made something for herself out of her SLAH business!

July 2008
The Dominican Republic
My 3rd General Incentive

This would have been a pretty perfect trip had I not fallen off of a segway and seriously injured my foot! While the experience was very comical for those that witnessed it, it proved to be very painful and rendered me "waterless" for the remainder of the trip! The scenery and hotel were absolutely gorgeous... and should I ever get hurt in the Dominican Republic again, I now know that Dominican doctors move v-e-r-y sllooowww!

September 2008
Charlotte, North Carolina
Kimberly's Director's Weekend Away

This trip came at a great time for me. With a 9 month old baby, I was having trouble figuring out how to balance everything in my life. I was scared of not doing as well as I had previously done in my business. Kimberly encouraged me to remember why I originally signed up... for that $500 a month!

To encourage me to "overcome my fears", the rest of the girls voted for me to be the recipient of a surprise Nascar experience! I was scared to death, but was so happy that I did, in fact, overcome my fear and rode in the car! And... I did not throw up (which was my biggest fear!). I came home refreshed and with a new outlook on how to work my business!

January 2009
The Famous Hotel Del Coronado
Coronado, California
My 3rd Director Retreat

Hands down, this was my most favorite trip! And this is truly a trip that would not have been possible without SLAH... the rooms go for a minimum of $500 a night! It was the most charming, enchanting place I've been in the United States... it rivaled some very charming European destinations. We rented a convertible and shopped in La Jolla and were charmed by the chilly air and sound of the waves as we sat by the fire, drinking hot chocolate!

June 2009
Cancun, Mexico
My 4th General Incentive

This trip was purely relaxing. Spa treatments, para sailing, relaxing by the pool... exactly what I needed amidst my busy personal schedule!

Coming Soon...

July 2009
Dallas, Texas
