My Favorite Product... Ashley Whitmore

When I got Danielle’s request to blog about my favorite SLAH product, I panicked. I logged off of the computer, went upstairs, and told my husband that I’d been asked to do the impossible—that there was no way I could narrow this task down to one item.


Because, truth be told, every SLAH item I have is my favorite.


I have confession to make: I know nothing about home decorating, interior design, or the like. I can’t create a recipe from scratch, make a tablescape on the fly or come up with any sort of new or unique decorating idea.


But here’s the best part…


…with SLAH, I don’t have to!


I love the fact that I can take any SLAH product and put in on my dining room table, my kitchen countertop, or my fireplace mantle and have instant pizzazz. I love it that it makes me look like an interior design phenom when all I’ve really done is copied a picture out of a magazine. I love it that it gives the room instant warmth and a feeling of hospitality.


It makes it feel like home.


But back to my original quandary of choosing just one item…after much consideration, I finally decided on the Renaissance Hurricane. I purchased two last November to use in my (finally) finished basement. I got them right before the holiday season and put them atop my fireplace mantle to house red and green Christmas ornaments. Deacon, then a year-and-a-half, had to come downstairs every day to see the “pretties” inside (sadly, I don’t have a pic of this). I love that I can change out the filler to go with any season—and for the decorating inept like me, these even look pretty empty!


I have to admit, the family room in the basement is my favorite room in the house—in part because these hurricanes really pull the eye to the fireplace and remind me what my life is really about: building a warm, comforting home in which to love my family.
